Lilly, still frozen nearby, was scooped up in the mother’s other arm as she retreated to the safety of a high branch. The rest of the troop quickly followed, creating a protective barrier around the shaken family.
For several minutes, the mother groomed both Lilly and Brady, calming their trembling bodies with gentle touches. Her breathing was still heavy from the effort, but her focus was entirely on her babies. She didn’t let them out of her arms for the rest of the day.
