In a peaceful little village near the edge of the jungle, two baby monkeys named Moon and Bon lived with their family. Moon was playful and full of curiosity. Bon, her best friend, was brave and always ready to help.
One sunny morning, the two were playing near the garden fence, chasing butterflies and giggling as they ran. The gate to the garden had wooden bars and was just tall enough to climb—but also just tricky enough to get stuck in.
Moon spotted a butterfly landing on the gate. “I want to see it up close!” she said, climbing up carefully.
Bon watched from below. “Be careful, Moon!”
Moon reached the top and smiled, her little hands holding onto the wood. But when she tried to come down, her foot slipped between the bars. “Oh no!” she cried. “I’m stuck!”
Her tiny leg was caught between the wooden slats, and no matter how she pulled, it wouldn’t come loose.
“Bon! Help me!” she screamed.
Bon’s eyes grew wide. He rushed to the gate and looked up. “It’s okay, Moon! I’m here! Don’t move too much!”
Moon was scared and starting to cry. Bon climbed up slowly, trying not to shake the gate. He reached her and gently held her leg.
“It’s okay. I’ll help you get free,” he whispered.
He tried to pull the wood apart, but it wouldn’t budge. Then, he had an idea. “Hold on tight, Moon.”
He climbed back down and grabbed a long stick nearby. Carefully, he used it to wedge between the gate slats, pushing just enough to open a small gap.
Moon wiggled her leg again—and this time, it came free!
“I did it!” she cried.
Bon cheered and helped her climb down. She hugged him tightly. “Thank you, Bon! I was so scared.”
“You’re safe now,” Bon said with a smile. “Next time, let’s stick to lower gates!”
They both laughed, though Moon was still a little shaky. Libby, their older monkey friend, came running over after hearing the noise.
“What happened?” she asked.
Moon told her everything.
Libby gave them both a hug. “Bon, that was very brave of you. And Moon, you’re lucky to have such a caring friend.”
That evening, they all sat together under the trees, sharing fruit and telling the story of the day.
Moon looked at Bon and said, “You’re my hero today.”
Bon blushed and grinned. “We’re always there for each other. That’s what friends do!”
And from that day on, Moon made sure to ask Bon for help before climbing anything tricky—because she knew he would always be there to rescue her if needed.
