The plan was simple: wait for Bibi to be distracted, then sneak up wearing the mask and give him a harmless scare.
As Bibi sat near the edge of the play area, munching on a banana and minding his own business, the prankster slowly approached from behind, crouching low and holding the big dinosaur head in place. The other monkeys noticed first — their eyes widened, and some jumped back nervously. A few even ran up into the trees, unsure of what this strange creature was.
But Bibi hadn’t seen it yet.
Then… RAWRRR! The volunteer popped out from behind a bush wearing the dinosaur mask, shaking his arms and making loud growling sounds.
Bibi dropped his banana.
His eyes widened in pure shock.
He leapt three feet into the air, let out a loud screech, and scrambled backward so fast that he rolled into a pile of leaves. For a few seconds, he froze, staring wide-eyed at the “dinosaur” that had appeared from nowhere.
The entire group of caretakers and monkeys burst into laughter.
A second later, Bibi realized something was off. The “monster” wasn’t moving like a real animal. It smelled like a human, and it wasn’t chasing him anymore. Slowly, and with extreme caution, Bibi crept forward, inspecting the creature. He sniffed, tilted his head, then poked at the mask with one finger.
Finally, the volunteer took off the dinosaur head.
Bibi paused — then let out a long, dramatic chirp, as if saying, “You got me!” He jumped up and began hopping around, clearly embarrassed but also a good sport. The other monkeys soon joined in, playfully chasing the prankster and trying to grab the mask.
From that day on, Bibi always double-checked every bush and shadow, just in case another “dinosaur” was waiting. The prank had become one of the funniest and most shared moments at the rescue center.
